Over 10,000 Pounds of Food Collected at Husker Harvest Days

NTV Nebraska: By Jordan Onwiler, Web Producer

The Food 4 Families Food Drive collected over 10,000 pounds of food at this year's Husker Harvest Days event.

There were 86 participating FFA Chapters from across Nebraska, Kansas and Iowa that together collected 10,057 pounds of food. Thanks to Nebraska Farm Bureau and Farm Progress, students who donated three or more cans of non-perishable food had their entry paid into Husker Harvest Days.

The top three FFA Chapters with the highest pounds donated were:
1.Shelby–Rising City Chapter: 690 pounds
2.Hampton Chapter: 578 pounds
3.Randolph Chapter: 544 pounds

Food donated at Husker Harvest Days will be distributed between Hall, Hamilton, Howard and Merrick County food pantries and backpack programs.

Interested individuals can still donate to the Food 4 Families Food Drive at participating grocery stores -- Super Saver, Hy-Vee and Hometown Market in St. Paul -- until Sept. 28.
