GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - As much of the flood waters subside in areas, many Nebraskans are uniting to help those recovering from the devastation. And area organizations are aiding in that effort.

The Nebraska United Ways have partnered with the Nebraska Bankers Association to establish the Bank on Nebraska strong Flood Relief Fund.

With flooding so wide spread across the area, this fund gives people the opportunity to donate at their hometown banks to aid to people right in their communities.

Karen Rathke, President of Heartland United Way said "it's really about people being able to give and knowing that their dollars will stay right here. And there's a lot of flood relief efforts out there and they're really great. But we wanted to make sure that people who are passionate about helping people in their local communities had a way to donate.

Banks and local united ways are collecting the funds and then working with local emergency management teams and community relief efforts.

You can donate at your local bank, online at www.unitedwaymidlands.org/nefloodrelief/, or by texting nefloodrelief to 41444 to give.
