"Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of Dolly Parton.
Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, Dolly became a cherished part of thousands of homes and childhoods in our communities. Inspired by her father’s inability to read and write, she turned a deeply personal experience into a lifelong mission: to inspire a love of reading and give children the opportunity to dream bigger.
Because of her vision and generosity, children she would never meet have received books, discovered new worlds and been encouraged to believe in what’s possible. Here in our community, her legacy lives on in the free books delivered to children across Hall, Hamilton, Howard and Merrick Counties.
Dolly’s greatest gift was her belief that every child deserves a chance to dream. Heartland United Way is honored to help carry that belief forward.
