GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA (September 22, 2025) Hundreds of bacon and brew lovers helped bring home enough bacon to fund a year's worth of books for 1,497 kids in Hall, Hamilton, Howard and Merrick Counties.
The 10th Annual Imagination Bacon raised nearly $45,000 for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of the Heartland United Way, selling nearly 850 tickets for the sold-out event on August 1.

Imagination Bacon turns 10 this year. For the past decade, thousands of people have come together to sample unlimited craft beers, wines, and unique, mouth-watering bacon appetizers in an effort to put books in the hands of local kids.
GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA (June 13, 2025) Dozens of volunteers are planning to spend the longest day of the year taking action, and there’s still time to sign up!
Day of Action is planned for June 20. Seventeen volunteer opportunities at 12 Heartland United Way community partner organizations are available.

Grand Island, Neb. – From treating kids with health disorders to keeping seniors fed, Rural Community Impact Grants are helping people thrive in Hamilton, Howard, Merrick Counties, and rural communities in Hall County.
The Heartland United Way is announcing the availability of at least $30,000 for local nonprofit organizations in 2025.
Preference for funding will be given to organizations that provide programs or services that align with one of the following areas:
